Santa Monica Orthodontist Celebrates Three Anniversaries in June
June 16, 2009 — LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA — Santa Monica Orthodontist Dr. Atoosa Nikaeen is celebrating three milestones this month.
June marks her eighth anniversary at her Santa Monica, CA orthodontics practice, her 10th anniversary as an orthodontist and her 16th anniversary as a dentist.
Nikaeen originally went into dentistry because she felt it was a great way to incorporate her passion for art while also helping to provide a valuable service to people, she said.
“The arts always interested me,” Nikaeen said. “Particularly painting and sculpture.”
Nikaeen said she incorporates artistic elements into orthodontics to create the best aesthetic result for patients.
A great deal of technological advancements have helped improve orthodontic treatment methods since Nikaeen graduated from Columbia University’s School of Dentistry and Orthodontic Department in Manhattan in 1999. She continues to stay abreast of the latest developments by educating herself daily.
Nikaeen also works as an adjunct professor at the University of California in Los Angeles.
“I study constantly,” Nikaeen said. “Because I teach at UCLA, it is important to remain up to date on the latest technology. I also like to use the new techniques in my office that will make the process faster and easier for my patients.”
From new types of Invisalign products to the creation of self-ligating braces and numerous new wires that have improved the teeth alignment process, Nikaeen has welcomed technology that she felt would benefit her patients.
When Nikaeen looks back on her career thus far, she is amazed, she said, adding that it makes her look forward to what the next 10 years have to offer the orthodontic field.

About Dr. Atoosa Nikaeen
Dr. Nikaeen graduated with honors from dental school in 1993 and received a doctorate in dental surgery (DDS). She gained experience practicing general dentistry for several years before attending Columbia University School of Dentistry and Oral Surgeons in New York, where she earned her post-doctoral education in orthodontics and received an orthodontic specialty certificate.
In addition to running her practice, Dr. Nikaeen is a faculty member at the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA) Orthodontic Department and teaches orthodontic residents.
Dr. Nikaeen’s Los Angeles practice serves patients throughout Southern California, including Beverly Hills and Santa Monica.
