Langley Orthodontics Specialist Discusses Benefits of Twin Block Therapy for Jaw Correction

LANGLEY, BC — Most of today’s dental treatments are iterations of older dental techniques that have evolved over the course of years, decades, and even centuries. Symptoms
There are generally two conditions that can be corrected by Twin Block treatment. These symptoms include a “retruded” jaw that is does not align with the upper jaw and also a “small” lower jaw that is narrower than the upper jaw.

The conditions can be caused by several factors, including genetics, excessive thumb sucking during infancy, posture, and other variables as well.

Treatment

Prevention
Twin Block orthodontics is a non-invasive treatment that allows the jaw to actively adjust and position itself in the proper position before the jaw locks into an undesired position. This treatment is highly preferable to treatment alternatives such as headgear appliances, possibly future extractions of teeth, and even corrective jaw surgery.
